The beautiful cross-stone (Sirun Khach)
The “Holy Lordly” Khachkar, known locally as the “Beautiful Cross” (Sirun Khach), holds a special place among the tourist attractions of Dsegh village. It was carved in the 13th century. The khachkar is located in the northeastern part of Dsegh community, on the edge of the left bank canyon of the Marts River.
The khachkar stands on a three-tiered pedestal. Its height, including the pedestal, is approximately 4.2 meters. The exact date of its creation is unknown; however, based on the inscriptions preserved on it, the khachkar is dated to the 13th century, although it may also belong to an earlier period. It is considered one of the masterpieces of 13th-century khachkar art.
During the Soviet era, the khachkar was transported to Paris to be displayed at an exhibition. During the transportation process, its left arm and lower left section were damaged.
