The Holy Trinity Monastery in Akhtala was built in the second quarter of the 13th century. Historical sources contain almost no information, only the one engraved on the khachkar inside the church has been preserved, which means “Lord God, have mercy on its builders, George and Simon”. Among the persons mentioned in the inscription, Gorge is the leader of the Holy Trinity Monastery, and Simon is the leader of the Akhtala Monastery. The monastic complex includes two churches and two chapels.
